Anyone get rid of the pods?

I'm in the process of redoing my 95 280 and would really like to get rid of the instrument "pods". I just think they have never really made a good fit to the looks of the boat. Has anyone ever done it? Anyone have a new dash made? How did it work out? My big concern is not being happy with placement of the gauges. Without the pods it would probably be hard to place gauges where they would still be in a good "visible" position.
Thanks,
KRUM.

Velocity Vector,
I actually followed the thread when you were redoing your dash. Love the carbon fiber look.

Is the 28 and 32 dash the same?

Unfortunately they are not the same. The 320 has a bigger vertical section directly over the steering wheel where gauges will fit. I thought about cutting the top of the pod off and adding an inch or two to that section and putting my gauges there but?????? I'm still up for any ideas.

I'm thinking just some new gauges chrome and colored rings will make it look a lot better with the same size gauges you have,
Second and third pix I raised the pod about 2" if you went moster gauges for extra room.
The third pix I went nuts-o no single engine boat would have this many gauges but it makes the boat look fast at the docks.:evilb:

The last picture is great. You would have to have a fat chick on the other side to ballance that boat due to all that gold "BLING"!!!!!!!!!

Or we could just go cyclops style, one huge gauge with a steering wheel knob on it:party-smiley-004:
