just picked up this 1988 22' velocity, basically stole it
hey everyone, i just pick this boat up last week, its a 1988 regal velocity 22' inboard, i picked up the boat and trailer for 1800, both have clean titles, the trailer alones worth the price. the boat already has k-planes, ill have to check which brand, it came with stainless marine big block headers with risers and thru-hull exhaust. the boat does need tlc, the interior is pretty clean, he had the back bench seat custom reupholstered into 3 bucket seats and more.
we just picked up a mercruiser 7.4l 454 ci, and was planning to put this into the boat. this a a project im doing with my father might i say, and where trying to get everything put together within about a months time period......now it has an alpha one on it, i heard the alpha is only good for up to around 300hp, and with the motor we bought having heads and exhaust, im sure ill be well over the stock 330 hp that the 454 mag merc has. so im insisting on a bravo 1 outdrive with the 454 mag combo unless its an unnecessary change, could i get away with the 454 alpha or is it just a waste of time? what type of speed should i exspect speed wise running the 454 bravo combo on this boat? my buddys dad has the same boat with a 502ci and he's clocked 93 gps on a freshwatewr pond, but im just new to this whole go-fast boat scene and any input would be appreciated. http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h3...g?t=1300461974 http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h3...g?t=1300461974 |
Great looking boat and a great price as well!
|
Damn, $1800 for that! Very Lucky, should make a nice project
|
Great price indeed! Are you in Maryland?
|
Cool. Should be a handful at those speeds.
|
Are those manifolds for a small block, unless that's a really big boot next to it?? With your 454 and the light weight of that hull the alpha might survive if you treat it right. My SWAG guess will be 65-67mph..
Sweet deal- good luck with it! |
Yes they are big block manifolds, I heard of you don't mash the throttle the alpha is a capable drive, but I'm more worried about coming out the water and all the stress when it hits the water again, I can only avoid that situation if this thing is anything like my old sweet 16

I saw that boat on a truck web site 4-5 weeks ago.I called left messages emails what a dumb ass never call me back! but hay great deal for you!!
How solid is it? |
very solid boat indeed, for the price i cant complain. the plywood underneath the seats needs to be replaced, and im going to glass them when i do it to keep it sealed....the engine bay deffinitely needs a cleaning and some attention, but as far as the hull, theres no soft spots and it seems great, cross my fingers because when i pull the gas tank out im hopinh im not upset with what i see
|
and yes, im in annapolis maryland for anyone wondering......i boat on the severn, magothy, and south rivers usually, and of course, ego alley and east port
