looking At Velocity 290sc

As the title states I am looking at a 290sc. Its a 2006 single screw. Its a bank repo boat and seems to be that the previous owner kept the stereo system. The engine cover stickers are missing but am told its a 496 ho. I would like to know how to tell what engine it really is. None of the hardware looks like wreches have been used so I dont think its been swaped. The drive is a bravo one and is clean and not bent or broke, again no wrench marks on bolt heads. Will an ecm read help? Overall the boats seams well taken care of. No stains rips tears or smells. Thanks in advance if you can help here.

Call Velocity with the hull ID number and they can look up what engine was installed at the factory. To be extra sure, get the engine serial number off of the engine and a Mercruiser service dealer can confirm that it's an HO.

No longer looking at a velocity. I am an owner now. Picked up my 290sc on Thursday at LOTO and staying for a week. So far it has been a blast. It was a repo boat and was tore up a bit when the stereo was removed. Should have in like new condition by next season. I called velocity and talked to kenny about the boat before I bought it. What a great guy. I will send them as much business as possible during my project. Thanks kenny.

I have some learning to do still. Had a hard time figuring out how to get the best ride in the Ozark chop. Still a blast and can't wait to get it fixed up and personalized. Those with the same boat....where do you cruise at as far as trim tabs and drive position and what speed and rpm. I spent most of the time with the tabs level and drive almost all the way down. Seemed to bounce the bow alot if I tried to trim the dive up. I know its a pad boat and its going take seat time before I go all out. Just curious how others run in rough chop.

Try Puting your tabs down a little more then trim the drive up if it purposes put the tabs down a little more . It might help I drag alot of tab on my 32
