Selling my 260, need advice
Hello all! Been a while since I posted, but I need some advice. I have decided to sell my 260. I have it listed on Craigslist for a decent price, well below value with the trailer. I haven't been getting any hits on it though and I was wondering if it was the ad?
http://atlanta.craigslist.org/nat/boa/2836523282.html I am going to post it on the Offshore Only classifieds, yet I wanted to get advice on tweaking my ad beforehand. Please share some good advice if you can on making any ad changes. Thanks in advance! |
Nice Boat! Your Ad is Ok But add some stuff to the Title (Offshore, Fast Clean) Stuff to get some attention. Add some key words at the bottom ( Baja Cigarette, Scarab, power Play, checkmate ) of your ad so people looking for other boats will fine yours. add a motor pic and better pic's of the boat. I looks super clean Good Luck

Like mentioned above, just change the pictures. Add picture of the motor and drive. Picture of boat on trailer also would look better. Looks like a nice boat .
|
Definitely need a picture from the side as pointed out. The add tells folks what it HAS which is fine for those who already know WHAT a Velocity boat is. For those that don't, that's a problem. I edited some of the marketing description Velocity uses on their website that you might consider adding.
When it comes to high performance powerboats, VELOCITY is the proven leader in its class coming from over 35 years of technological breakthroughs and World Class Record wins in racing! Whether it is going fast or just enjoying the weekend with your family, the VELOCITY 260 is an excellent choice. Good Luck! |
Add this: "Turn Key....boat needs nothing."

I would really recommend you upload numerous pics into photobucket. Then copy the HTML code under each picture and paste those codes into your description..Once you submit the ad all that code will turn into huge high res pics which will REALLY help you sell your boat.
Get them BIG like this and people will notice the good condition of your boat. Thats how you get people excited to come see your boat and then it will sell...Price looks good for a 1999 but you definitely needs pics of the engine, the boat on the trailer (get a profile shot), one of the transom, dash and cabin. Just remember, you are selling a boat for $23,000 and people want to see the details! http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...930t/025-1.jpg |
Thanks all. I reposted on craigslist but I am still trying to get some extra cash together for Offshore Only so I can post here. Money has been tight lately, hence the reason for selling the boat. I even dropped the asking price $1k

That's a good deal on a clean boat. At this time of year and with these good pics, you should not have much problem selling it.

is this a 240/260 or a 260/280?
|
His is a 1999, so it would be the 240/260. I believe 1997 and earlier were the 260/280's. You can tell if it i has the cabinets in the interior or not. The cabinets are a sure sign it is a real 260 (280).
The 240/260 is a 24-ft boat with the 2-ft swim platform. This is the current configuration of the 260. |
Looks like a pretty good deal.
