22' velocity prop help.

We just finished a 22' velocity project, it's an 89 model, 502 big block, hydraulic roller cam, roller rockers, 850 holley, aluminum heads and manifolds. Bravo drive with a bobs nose cone, and keikheifer trim tabs. We are running a 26 4 blade cleaver, not sure what kind, at about 5200-5300 rpm at around 80-82 mph. Trying to get the right prop for this, anybody out there with a similar setup, it seems there are alot of outboard velocity's! And not many inboards. Any info would be greatly appreciated!!

I'm not much help but your motor combo sounds similiar to the one I am putting in my 89 22' Velocity. My motor is a 454 instead of a 502 but it is built up with Dart heads, custom Bob Madera Cam and Stellings Headers making 500hp. I am going to run a 1.36 drive because I have it laying around with a 23 labbed Mirage plus. From what I have read the 22 likes the Mirage plus. I haven't finished putting mine altogether but I think if I have any issues or questions on it I will call the Velocity Factory and see what they recommend. I was hoping for low 80's and it seems that will be possible.

Just sold an '87 22 with a 735hp blower motor spinning a 30" Spinelli prop on a 1.5 Bravo with nose cone. Previous owner had it to 103 MPH at 5600 with throttle still left. I only had stones to get it in the high 80's, but I think boat could have used more prop if you had the guts or glory to go for it. Kenny at Velocity in Sanford, FL can tell you what to do to get boat to run fast safely. Good luck with both your projects! The 22 is a neat boat.

22 with 525EFI 92mph at 5200. 30" five blade. I forgot who made the prop. I am running out of prop. The boat is a 100mph boat with 500 Hp. The art is in the prop.

JD is that a 3 blade or 4 blade prop? How does the boat handle? Is the boat running on a stock 525 or does it have a power adder or any work to it?

It is a 5 blade. I tried a 4 blade, but it appeared to slip a lot. I have a real high X dimension. The Bravo drive is attached it Mercury's ITS. The engine is stock with a 5 year warranty from Mercury. The boat is configured this way from the factory. We had some bottom work done since this boat has an aft CG. It handles great. I wish I could derate the engine to 499hp. Insurance would go from $2600 to $667 per year. At 96mph, I still wasn't using all the power available.
