Velocity 280
I just placed an add in the classifieds for my 1999 280.
The engine had an intake gasket failure a created a milkshake mess. The price is 19K as is. Have a look and give me a call at 860-767-0797 |
Just saw 1998 a modified blown and injected running perfect that needed a drive only sell for $13,500
|
where is it

I've seen 98s and 99s with stock engines going for 35K too...:eekdrop: Mine is 19K as is or I'll sell for less without engine and drive. I believe this is a fair price. I'm not going to give her away. I'll just rebuild or buy another engine and have her back on the water next summer. Engine is coming out next week. |
was the 98 the one that was on ebay a few weeks ago?
if so it looked to be in not so great shape and it would be hard to tell if a vortex supercharged engine is running perfect on the hose. |
Is the 280 just a 26' boat with the platform added to the length? Not trying to be funny buy I have seen 280 listed but the length was listed as 26'. What speeds did yours run with a stock 415 hp 502?
|
A 1998 and above 280 is a 26-ft boat with a 2-ft platform. The 260 (which is what I have) is a 24-ft boat with a 2-ft platform. Same cockpit. The two feet is in the cabin. In 1997 and below, a 280 was 28-ft and 260 was 26-ft. The platforms were options then.

with the 415 ive ran 72 on a chop and 69 on slick water.
|
496 ho or 502 efi 280 velocities run true 70 all day long. Used to kill me when trying to keep up with my buddy.
|
The boat ran 70 on GPS with a vary light load. 4800rpm, 26p B1 prop. 67-68mph with a family of 4 and 3/4 tank. I've heard they run faster with a Hydro QIV.
A 280 is a 26' boat with a bolt on swim platform; the 260 is a 24'. I don't think Velocity ever made a true 28' boat; 22,24,26,30,and. It's a great hull; fast for it's size with not a lot of power, and it handlse all kinds of water. I'm just looking to downsize to a boat we can tube and ski off... |

Lots of people asking me for more pictures. I need to work on a package to send out via e-mail. I don't have many on this computer and don't have a sotware package to easily shrink the size. I'll work on it this weekend hopefully.
|
send me what cha got and I'll post them for you. Full size pics are good. or use photo bucket, it's free
[email protected] |
A quick way to reduce the size of your pics is to open each one with MS Paint, then reduce by 25%-50% and save.
|
Thanks for the tips.

I thought I had a deal, but haven't heard from the guy lately. Buying is soooooo much more fun than selling!
|
Looks like I have a deal with the fellow that originally had the boat built. He's looking to go racing again. Hopefully he shows up on Thursday as planned.
Anyone want a high, aluminum wins screen with green bimini and camper top? I paid $1500 and will let it go for $800. |
Well, another no show. I got put off until next Friday.
I've agread to a deal with 3 different buyers and none has shown up. Loosing faith in people's word... |
Well, I finally sold my boat today.
She'll soon be back on the races circuit running P6. Good Luck Kevin! I still have a high aluminum framed wind screen, bimini top, and full camper canvas. Someone make me an offer... |
