Getting the bugs worked out of the vr1

Well the boat has been sitting for a few years and after cleaning the fuel tank and injectors its alive.!!
Ran 77.2 at 5100 rpm,s with a bone stk.27 hydro 4 blade and then ran a full race lab 29 hydro 4 blade at 78.8 at 5000 rpm,s. So the 29 is off to Mike at hulls to loosen it up a bit.
Called Innovations and that engine that they built for the f1 class made 461 hp at 5100 rpm,s. We had the computer redone and now we can spin it to 5600. Back then it ran a best 83.4 with Mike from Hulls steering and I was throttling at the toys for tots run.
Its defiantly getting bigger power soon.

Is that the yellow VR1 from Carolina Boat Trailers ("Solarized")?

Velocity Tom 10-15-2012 07:38 PM

Yup.

If you throw all the beer cans overboard you should be able to crack 80!

Velocity Tom 10-21-2012 07:23 PM

Those are not beer cans Damit!! They are navigational fluid dispensers!!!!!!!!!! GET IT WRIGHT!!!!!!!

Conman 10-27-2012 01:39 PM

I was almost jealous of that yellow beast until I looked at my own 290sc in the garage this morning. Let us know when she cracks 80!

Velocity Tom 10-27-2012 05:04 PM

It should be there now. Mike just made some adjustments to the prop and I just added a hatch scoop. Not getting enough cold air. engine room temp is 20 deg warmer than out side. That was the key on all my 390,s lots of air in , lots of hot air out. Those little air holes on the side are not enough.

Now that...

was funny ;)

Great job btw. How about some pix's? 80 is flying for a single and especially w/that much power. Shows the efficiency of the Velocity hull design.

Ill get some pics.

Velocity Tom -Please give me a call.

My name is Ernie Dupuis [Boxer 461] 26 Sutphen. A buddy of mine is looking for a single engine 26-28 ft boat to run in some nasty water off of Cape Cod. When I race against 26 Vel. , I was always impressed with the way they ran in the rough stuff. Just don't know enough about the boat. Pleas call me when you get a chance. 401-261-6225. Thanks Ernie

Ernie, I remember you we did some runs together in Fort Myers . Your boat was called boxer. I had the 390 velocity with Snap on tools on it. We where running together with Mike in a 32 active thunder when someone had a engine let go.

I will give you a call. or give him my no. 239-340-0796

Tom, I will give you a call later today. I remember we were doing a poker run out of Fort Myers, when I dropped a valve at 5900 rpms. It was 10 years ago this month. It was like a bad country song. TKO, my boxer, died on Tuesday. Came home on Thursday, with water running down the driveway.[ Water heater sprung a leak]. The engine issue, on Saturday, wouldn't have bothered me much, but Mike had me by a few MPH.

Velocity Tom 11-11-2012 07:40 AM

Trouble comes in 3,s so they say. 4,s and 5,s for me!!! Mike put even bigger power in that thing! It ran somewhere in the 120 mph range.
Ya give me a call ant time.
