Best prop for a 2000 260

What is the best pitch to run on a 260 with a 496 mag

ThisIsLivin 05-02-2013 10:32 AM

What do you have now and how does it run?

trex232 05-02-2013 02:36 PM

260 bravo1 but I am hitting rev limiter, that is with no hatch or back seat, 3 200lb men. I have some throttle left

I would go with a 26 hydromotive 4 blade or go up a couple of inches with a Bravo One.

I have a 27 Hydromotive 4 Blade that is fresh from the factory that I'm trying to sell.

how much, thought about a 28 bravo1

I run a 26p Bravo I on my 2000 260. That is also the same prop that it comes with from Velocity. A 28p may work, but only with a light load. I was told to stay away from Hydros as they had to much lift for that hull.

With a non-labbed 28p, you may be working the engine too hard for 2-3 mph more. The best prop is one that allows you to reach your highest rated RPM (or with 200rpm) with a normal load onboard.

I hit about 74-75 when the needle reaches 5100 with a nominal load (two people onboard (including myself), dual batteries, 1/2-3/4 fuel, hatch installed and all play-things on the boat).

Get the seat and hatch back in, with a normal load of fuel, beer and friends, and then try that 26p. I have the HO version of your motor and it is near perfect. If you go 28p, get it labbed first.

Hydros work great on the 260's at top end. The bravo works better at low speeds to mid-range. The five blade PX hydros works all around better than bravos if you have hp to push it. The boat on a hydro lifts the bow more. I ran a PX 28 on my old 260 with a blower motor, loved the prop. great cruising speed to top end with an assume hole shot, far superior to any bravo even labed.

Redhook, how do you turn 5100 rpm, the rev limiter comes in on mine at 4800-4900 rpm's

The rev limiter on the HO is 5150 rpm.

ran the boat yesterday half tank of fuel, 2 adults everything back inside, still hit the limiter with throttle left, what about a hydromotive prop

searaycer 05-18-2013 04:51 PM

they like Hydromotives, I have a worked 27 on mine and a stock 27 as a spare, I could use way more prop with the new power, but I like the slip factor so i am not working the XR too hard.
