lifting

I have a velocity260 apporx: 5000lbs, I want to lift it off the trailer to do some work. Can you lift it with the bow ring and stern rings? I have done this before lifting smaller boats without a
problem. If not I have a lifting frame with slings if the rings are not strong enough.

I've lifted my 26' T'bred by using jacks, blocks of wood, and cinderblocks. My neighbors thought I was nuts. There are a few threads on OSO about this, everybody with differing opinions of course. Took my less than an hour to get the trailer out from under it.

I would definitely NOT lift it by the rear rings which are far too small to support the boat/engine weight. Take a look at the special purpose lifting rings on a F1 boat and you'll see what I mean.

Marine screw jacks, cinder blocks, wood blocks and/or HD hydraulic floor jacks are the best way short of having a travel lift sling arrangement.

I kind of did both used the rings to get the slings under then used the slings to lift the boat.

HEY 260, They ARE called "LIFTING RINGS"!!! It sounds like you were being better safe than sorry....(SMART)!!! I don't think it's a problem on the under 30' boats tho.....

Glad it worked out for you. I was surprized but the guys at my marina can slide the slings between my 320 hull and the trailer bunks with no trouble what so ever using 2 guys! It should be easier for a lighter boat.

probally could of pulled them it was tight though. I figured why fight it though. I used one of our trucks that delivers concrete block, same one I use for lifting Slow boats"sailboats" for the winter. That is what the sling and frame are meant for. the truck at close range it can lift 10,000lb's. 30ft out it can lift 4,000lbs.
