Kenny has left Velocity.

Yup!! I talked with him today and after 12 years with velocity Kenny said its time to move on.

biohzrd 07-14-2014 07:01 PM

Wish him the best!! Always a class act, and willing to talk or help you in any way. I hope it's not a sign of things to come at Velocity.

ziemer 07-14-2014 07:46 PM

Can't wait to see what lies ahead for Kenny as I'm sure it will be good. He's always been extremely helpful and I wish him the best.

suntimes 07-14-2014 09:14 PM

He was a great help with my Velocity deal. I wish him all the best!

searaycer 07-14-2014 09:22 PM

Wow, I just talked to him the other day about some work on my boat.

Wildman_grafix 07-14-2014 09:31 PM

Did he say where he was going?

ThisIsLivin 07-15-2014 07:25 AM

Kenny, has helped me a number of times, he is the best. He is certainly one of the reasons Velocity owners are so loyal. I bought a 1998 280 locally and he treated me like I bought a brand new boat from him. I certainly wish him well he is a great guy and deserves the best.

trex232 07-15-2014 07:46 AM

He treated me the same way, helped me like I was the original owner

wellcrafted 07-15-2014 09:41 AM

Kenny is good man, heart of gold . You could always trust him to do the right thing for the boat owner. Anytime i needed something he made sure it was done.

007joe 07-15-2014 11:43 AM

Same Experience with Kenny when I bought my '06, bought it from a marina that wasn't even a dealer anymore, as a leftover, and Kenny followed up several times to make sure I was happy with it, the marina didn't call once. Good luck on your new venture.

BUP 07-15-2014 03:16 PM

+ 100 Kenny was always willing to help and talk to you no matter what boat you owned. I thought he was staying on with the new owners. Wonder if something happened like both parties not on the same page lately. Just saying

Velocity Tom 07-15-2014 04:25 PM

Kenny is going out on his own with his boat brokerage LTB ( Lets Talk Boat)

steeda 07-15-2014 04:54 PM

That stinks! He was a great resource when I bought mine!

Jim1750 07-15-2014 07:04 PM

The heart and soul of Velocity (Kenny) has moved on to where he may be truly appreciated for his efforts and contributions to the industry. Kenny is great human being with impeccable integrity.
I am confident Kenny will be successful in his new endeavor just because of the way he goes about doing business.
Kenny is currently brokering used boats and I understand that some new boat manufacturers will be dealing with him directly in the near future.

OMG WTF. 1st velocity gets sold, now 2ndly Kenny leaves. There goes the end of an era. Probably won't see another go fast velocity sold anytime soon unless Kenny is the one selling it. All of my experiences with velocity were solely with Kenny, and never a bad one. Well on the good side it is great to hear he is on his own. On the sad side another builder will probably suffer, there loss, oh well!!,

I've had excellent interactions with Kenny (and the gang at Steve's Velocity). Over many years, the name Kenny became synonymous with Velocity, and he became the main go-to person (besides Steve of course). Kenny is excellent at what he does; a people person first, and excellent in taking care of your boating needs. I wish him the very best with his new company and I still have his number on speed dial.

raceboat rus 07-19-2014 01:48 AM

so who might velocity get to replace him . I recomend a real pretty asian lady , sort of a 29 year old Connie Chung type , Kenny I am sure has great places to go with his talent

underpsi68 07-19-2014 07:59 AM

I have also have nothing but great dealings with Kenny. I wish him all the best!

Thanks for all your help Kenny. He is a true gentleman.

I recently bought my VR thru Kenny in April. He made it feel as if I was buying a brand new one. We drove down after work Friday and Kenny spent his Saturday on the water with us for the sea trial. I found a couple things that needed attention before buying. We worked a deal and Kenny had them fixed and the VR pulled to my driveway!! I would not hesitate to deal with him again. I feel sorry for Velocity as they have a impossible spot to fill. All the best to Kenny pursuing his passion! Thanks for all the help KH....

Jim1750 07-21-2014 05:36 PM

I understand Kenny is doing well with many boats for sale.

Got my Velocity from Kenny a few years back, First meeting was outside normal office hours, so trust me he is willing to bend over backwards to help you. Every time I needed help he was Johnny on the spot. No matter what you need, parts, service or a new ride Kenny is the man to call.

what ever 07-31-2014 09:09 PM

Got my first velocity a few years ago Kenny was a great help...Very sorry to see him leave..
How about the new owners

speeddemon651 08-02-2014 03:18 PM

Kenny was good to deal with, helpful and always eager to further the Velocity band. I only have one gripe about dealing with Kenny that ended up costing me several grand because of a complete screw up he made.

In 2010 I ordered a new powder coated aluminum Ameratrail trailer with premium wheels, led lights, torsion suspension, spare tire, stainless kit, the whole nine yards. I ordered it through Kenny at Velocity to ensure the proper fitment and told him I needed it for my 1996 Velocity 260. A 1996 260 is essentially a later model 280 without a molded swim platform, it measures a true 26'6". Kenny ordered and sent me the trailer. After paying to have it shipped to VA, I get it home and the trailer is 2 feet too short. He ordered and sent me a trailer for essentially a 24 foot Velocity. I called Kenny, he apologized, promised to take care of it and that he would get Ameratrail to build me another trailer. I drove the few hours back down to VA to drop the trailer off with a shipper.

A week later, I get a call from Kenny saying the trailer is on its way back. Trailer shows up and it the same F**king trailer, he just moved the bow stop 2 feet forward and put heavier load rated tires on it. The bunks stopped half way up the hull and only supported half the boat. The crank on the bow stop could not be used because it hit the jack. The jack would also not fold because it hit the bow stop. Now that that bow stop was placed 12 inches from the tongue of the trailer it towed way too nose heavy and because of the bow stop being located out of the triangulation frame section the trailer/tongue would flex several inches, beating the crap out of the bow. To put it lightly, I was pissed, having just spent thousands for a trailer that completely did not fit at all. I called him about it and kept saying I'll get back to you about it. I called for a few weeks and always gave me the same answer "I'll get back to you about it". Unless I wanted to sue, I really had no choice but to sell the trailer at a loss and get another one that actually fit, which intern cost me several grand because of Kenny's complete F**K up.

For years I haven't said a word about this to anyone out of complete respect for Steve Stepp and the Velocity name. I'm happy to say I'm glad Kenny is gone.

No Sir you can't...but

In my case it wasn't just as easy as being an unsatisfied customer. Kenny completely F**ked up and then tried to cover his tracks instead of doing the right thing and what he promised to do.

-It would be like you ordering size 10 shoes and then receiving size 8's in the mail.
-You then would be promised to be sent the correct size 10's which you paid for.
-Instead your automatically resent the size 8's back with the toes cut out of the shoes instead of what you actually ordered and paid for.
-Now think about that situation except based upon thousands of dollars.

I'm the least likely person in the world to complain, which is why your reading this 4 years after the fact and after he has already left Velocity. I took the loss on the chin and moved on. I only responded to the thread after reading page after page of people saying how good he was to work with and thought that people deserve to hear how he treated me. I too might have left the same good feedback here until he F**ked up ordering the completely wrong size trailer for me, then lied about sending me a new correct size trailer and avoided my calls for weeks to try to cover his tracks to avoid fixing his F**K up. I could have easily involved Steve and I'm sure he would have taken care of it but I believe in Karma, if you lie to and cheat people then sooner or later it will come back to bite you.

I hope the door didn't hit him on the way out.
