My First Velocity

Just picked up my first Velocity a few months ago. Only had it out a couple weekends before i found it had a bad block and hydrolocked, but i have a 496 stroker being built for it right now and can't wait for next summer. I loved it for the short time it was running. it's a 1996 280. Anyone have any suggestions where to get parts? looking for side vents and small stuff like that. Thanks

Stefan

Contact Velocity direct, they have been very good to me while I was restoring my 1998 280.

Welcome to the family. You will love the 280, it is a great boat. I would try the factory however with Kenny gone I am not sure who to contact. You might try asking for Steve Stepp however I understand he is only there part time.

Where are you located?

For the engine vents I've used Eddie Marine as they seem to be exact replacements. Just post whatever else you need here and you'll get directed to a good parts source.

I figure this is the spot to ask.. My engine builder recommended i get to my fuel tank and remove the safety rollover valve.. Could someone tell me where i could access that from? Thanks

Welcome to the family. Ive had a new to me 260 for three seasons now. Its my first boat of any kind, and I'm absolutely loving it!

Do you mean your anti siphon valve instead of the safety rollover valve ?

i think in his experience with boat motors, boats brought up from the US have a coast guard required ball valve of some sort that will cut fuel to the engine in the case of a rollover. he said he's seen a few motors starved of fuel and run lean because of it. i have no knowledge of these safety valves at all, so i'm just going by the info he gave me. if there isn't one on these boats, even better. one less thing for me to do this winter
