The 26 became the 280 as measured with a swim platform in 1999. Somewhere around the same time they came out with a 24 ft that was named a 260. Your Thououghbred 26 has the same hull as the Velocity 280.

Sounds like a great project....have fun!

Padraig, thanks for clearing that up, i did not know that. Well the old owner had it painted and graphics done on the boat, he labeled it as a Velocity 260. i guess he just took the Summer Squall 26 foot spec and used that for his dimension.
HAHA oh well no big deal. My boat has an Aluminum swin platform bolted to the back of the Transom..

No problem. They are great boats. I had a 26 (280) before the VR 1. Look on the bright side....you now have a 28 ft boat. For docking, shrink wrap etc however I would call it a 26.

I will check that app. When I get it back together.. I re built the entire Helm /Dash with all new autometer gauges couple years back.. They have yet to be used.

I will check out that drive service, I will be very easy on mine as I was with the old set up to save it until I can get a XR or modded bravo..

THIS IS LIVING. Can you tell me what size motor and prop you ran with those numbers on ur 280?
Also. Does the 260 chine walk due to the pad width?
Mine is actually a 92 thoroughbred summer squall / Velocity, I am guessing Steve took this hull and renamed it the 260 in the newer models?

I am running a 524 with a 1.5 Bravo 1 drive with a 28x15.25 Bravo 1 4 blade prop. I was running a 30p when I got close to 90. I will be trying a 32 once I get it all back together and the drive broke in. Talking to George at All American Drive, he is recommending I go to a 1.36 drive ratio and stay with the 28. I haven't decided which route I'm going yet.

So your 650 HP 524 " will spin a 30 with no problem with our hull? Hmmm. what rpm are u topping out at with that prop and what makes you want to go to the 32 pitch unit?
Is the mid range still there?
i was only running a 26 B1 but i couldnt really test it that well due to no hyd. steering and a very loose Gimbal swivel pin! Drive would float back and forth 4 to 5 inches while sitting still!!! That is one of many reason s i took it apart.

I had a similar problem, cable helm with external hydraulic assist, so anything over 80 was getting dicey. I have since replaced it with a full hydraulic, which has helped greatly. I should mention that I have added a Hydro-Motive nose cone as well. I have a 27 Hydro-Motive 4 blade that I redlined at 6k, and the 28 Bravo is getting up there as well. I could still get on plane with 8 adults and 2 large coolers with the 30 and I had the rpms to the mid 5's with 4 adults and a full tank. The mid-range is awesome with the Bravo 1 Props, I run about 55 at 3500 and get almost 3mpg. The hull really doesn't like running slower than that anyway. First time out we were in 1 1/2' to 2' waves and I made the mistake of going slow, it beat us to death, I thought my wife was going to make sell the boat. Next day I went out by myself to get the feel of the boat and started trying more speed and it smoothed right out at 55, now I'm either idling or doing at least 55. Once I get the new drive broke in I will be able to do more testing to see what rpm's I am running at WOT. I'm not sure yet where it likes to run, it hits the rev limiter pretty hard with the Hydro-Motive prop.

Thanks for sharing this info... it will help me in setting upo my boat and not second guessing myself on my choices...
