I totally agree with over 600 hp and 5600 rpms only 76 mph on GPS something is not right. Check your hull bottom out . Wonder about weight here as in holding water or loaded down ? just saying. That boat should be 80 mph.

What year and who did the engine and gear ratio of the outdrive ?

Its a 95 hull. I dont trust my fuel gauge so i always keep the tank full. I built the engine myself along with a very reputable local builder here. New block, .060 over. Scat forged stroker kit. 9.6:1 compression. Brodix heads

If your engine is making 600hp at 5600rpm I would try a 28 bravo one prop. You might be able to turn a 30 bravo one. With that power that boat should run 85mph. A stock 29 with a 525 runs 85 according to the tests I have seen.

Can you borrow any props to test?

SB I was thinking the same thing and that's why I said 80 mph to middle the speed. I was really thinking 84 to 86 mph.

Nice setup! Very rarely do you throw on a prop and achieve top speeds the boat is capable of. This comes with lots of in the water prop testing. As others have said, make sure the hull is correct and prop from there. I would also like to know at what elevation you are boating. The higher you are, the slower you go. Mine lost 3 mph from sea level to 1100'. Give Brett @ Bblades a call and discuss your setup. They will get you in the right direction if propping is holding you back. Keep us updated

I'm in vancouver BC. sea level. Also, i have a 28 pitch bravo 1 prop on it now. Hull looks to be in great shape. One of the reasons i grabbed the boat. I really do think its a prop issue as the one i got was used and id imagine , needs some tweeking for my boat. I always run with a full tank ad well. Maybe ill run it right down, fill up a jerry can to keep with me, go for a run and start from there. Im probably pushing around 575 with the timing in it right now , so im gonna put the 2 degrees back into it that we ran on the dyno test and see where im at

Sure you're not set on knots right??? Ha! That 280 should definitely run into the 80's.

With your RPM's and speed you're at 24% slip which is really high. Should be down between 10%-15%
