260 pulls right

Just bought a 2002 260 with 240 hrs on her she has a 496 with bravo 1 outdrive just wondering if anyone has an issue with the boat turning hard right when you trim the out drive up at speed or when you are coming off plane

Check the steering. Does it have external hydraulic? With the boat on the trailer, can you physically move the drive side to side? Could be a worn gimbal ring, or air in the hydraulic lines.

No there is no external hydro steering and yes with the boat on the trailer you can move the outdrive side to side but only to the right side

Power steering fluid full?
Any bubbles when its running?

Jcurtis2932 05-07-2018 04:17 PM

I have not check the power steering fluid yet but do you think that would cause the out drive to move 4-8 inches to the right while on the trailer

AllDodge 05-07-2018 04:35 PM

If there is next to no fluid in the lines, then there is no fluid to keep the steering solid. Air in the system makes things squishy, and things can move easier

What I was finding was running about 35-40 I would start to bring the drive up and all on a sudden the boat would make a hard right turn this also happened when I was coming off plane the boat made a hard right turn. Is there such thing as to much trim at that speed ?

Mine would do when i was slowing down from speed (pull hard to the right) with cable steering. Put hydraulc string on and problem solved.

Thanks for the good feed back this is my first performance boat so all of this is something new for me I do all of my boating on the upper Chesapeake bay again thanks for all the help

With external hydraulic steering you should NOT be able to move the drive side to side at all.
With cable type steering there will be some play side to side but not more than an inch.
You have a serious problem - DON"T drive the boat until you get it fixed.
