back in a velocity!
Had a 280 built new in 2001 sold it in 2012 and after 6 years I’m finally got back into one, picked up a 1997 26 (they later called it the 280) with a 540 up in Ohio, interior was redone a few years ago and is clean, already has kplanes on it and hydraulic steering. Good starting platform to work with. Got it home and have since pulled it apart. Selling the short block and building a 598” bbc with dart 345s.should make 700-725 horse, buying a new hp transom assembly and XR upper with a sport master lower. Let’s see how close we can get a 280 to 100mph on 87 octane! |
Nice, I loved my 1996 26', best was 91 on GPS. Welcome back to the family, any pics?

I’ve got pics but apparently because I’m a new member I’m on probation and can’t post them til i make 10 posts lol. The 2001 280 we had ran a best of 95.3 with 670 horse. Had a lot of time in that boat dialing it in, i believe it had around 960 hours on it after 11 years |
That's fast for 670 hp!
|
95.3 was a coldddddd day, no windshield, gutted cabin. Normal day it would run about 88-92mph |

720 HP 727 TQ 468 ProCharged Injected with a 1.30 B-Max 94.8 a 2" shorty might have helped but it ran turn key for 6 years with just oil changes. Great Build |
Congrats, nice boat. I had a 1998 280/26 Velocity that I bought new and ran till 2013. Sold it and bought a VR 1.
