290SC or 280 Height on Trailer
What is the height on trailer of a 290SC or 280? Trying to determine if one would fit in a standard height garage, I've got a detached garage that's 40X30ft, but door height is only about 6ft 10in.

It would depend to some degree what trailer it's on?

My 260 on an ameritrail trailer just clears my 8 ft overhead door.
My boat has the bigger windshield on it and 14" tires on the trailer. I don't think 6" 10" is going to cut it. unless it doesn't have a windshield. |

I'm also curious if any of these bigger single engine velocity's like the 260, 280, or 30 struggle to get on plane with a boat full of people like some of the 29 fountain single engine boats I've read about. |
I have a 280 with stock 496ho, have no issue with getting on plane with passengers.

That is a nice looking boat!
With 800 hp it should get on plane just fine. :D |

Thanks for posting. I can do without a windshield. There is a nice 30ft Velocity single engine for sale that seems low enough on a trailer to fit a standard height garage, which caused me to post this thread. https://www.boattrader.com/boat/2006...y-vr1-7632167/

If you are still looking at a VR 1 it will be lower then a 280 or 290.

Awesome, thanks for posting. How much height does the windshield add? Does the trailer use a torsion axle?
Yeah.. now my "NEW" boat isn't even close to fitting under the 8' door.. lol |
I have a 280 with the LEXAN windshield which is lower and I still need an 8' door to get in my garage.

Thanks a lot for pic and post. Good looking boat, man they look A LOT better without the full framed windshield, almost like a different boat. Are you guy's having any drive failure problems on 28ft velocity's with 500hp or less? I realize it depends somewhat on driver skill level. How do they run at slower speeds? Can you tube behind one? Don't laugh too hard. My use would be for a family of 5 on a lake average speed around 40-50mph. Anybody have any experience with the ride of the MCOB models and related ride characteristics when loaded with 7-8 passengers?

I'm running about 700hp, so yes I blew my drive. I had AADS rebuild it and 3 years later it's still good. The prop makes a ton of difference, my Hydro-motive will break loose in rough water below 40. My Bravo does well at lower speeds and I can stay on plane at 30 no problem. With headers and no mufflers, you would need ear protection do spend anytime behind my boat. I have found that my 280 really likes to run around 55-60, it makes a big difference in the ride especially when you're in 2' waves. I have had 9 passengers and a couple coolers once, she really struggled to get on plane especially with a 30p prop. I do go out often with 6 adults and it rides great. My son-in-laws pontoon does 50, you might want to look at a Manitou. I hope this answers your questions.
