Default 32 Velocity w/twin 454's

surfacetension, I have ridden in and driven the 32 with 454 mpi's and the boat run's very well. Both boats ran about 77 mph (speedometer) and handled the rough water very well. I had found a deal on one in sarasota but ended up buying a 390 . I believe the 32 can handle bigger power, but I probably would not go bigger than the 500's. This would put it at approx. 90 mph.

Surfacetension,

Steet is right on the money with his commentary on the 320 and its performance.

I have found the '32 to be a good boat. I've run poker runs big +small spent alot of time on E. Lake Ontario,St. Law. River and just generally boated all over hell w/it for 6 yrs. All pad bottom boats love horsepower and won't run as intended w/o enough of it. This hull has occasionally (NOT in PB mag!) gotten a bad rap. Most of this comes from experiences w/7.4 powered boats...it's (IMHO) just not enough to hold the nose up and run reasonable trim angles so as not to get in trouble. You also have to understand the use of K-planes,any 30 footer w/bigs is going to reguire that! These are a driver's boat, maybe too high riding and loose feeling @ speed for the unitiated, but once you get one w/it man...you can run right over the top of some pretty rough conditions.Transplanted 454 Mags in over 7.4's...new boat. A real 5-7 mph, totally improved drivability (hyd. steer a must). Consider Mags min. power in that boat. I had 650SC '26, good friend had 400hp small block '22 w/foot throttle and wheel trim ( that boat was a BLAST). Have spent time in 32's w/540 Bulldogs and lots of time in my other bud's w/boosted/innercooled HP525's/580HP (both run in the 90's) My carb Mag boat runs 78 GPS, consumes 17-18 GPH (total) @ 33-35 MPH and around 30 GPH total @ 50, quite efficient running (I have flo-scan). Velocity is FAST (and efficient) but not for everone.

You could sleep two average size adults in the berth and two kids, one each on the lounges, if the kids are young.

Rippem, I have a friend with a supercharged HP500 in a 280 he said it ran 94. He bought it used and popped the motor in 2 weeks. He had it rebuilt and left the blower off. He said it ran better with the blower on it. and I couldnt understand what he meant, is this what your talking about?

I've never been in a 32 but Rippem could have easily been talking about my 26. Not for everybody, but being a "drivers" boat means it's fun, challanging, and a hell of a lot of satisfaction when you get it right. My 26 is running 82 on GPS with a normally aspirated 509. The one running 94 must be a total rush!

Satisfaction....you got that right brother! Ex. #1, back in '99 the August 1000 Islands poker run (my backyard) there were 130+ boats registered (that I heard, sure as hell looked that way) and a SW wind @ 25-30 mph all day. Let me tell you, it was big and messy out on the St. Lawrence River. With only 75-77 mph power, I held off a couple of 85 mph boats of similar size, all day...they could'nt get by me. They tried...believe me, and they would pull even in the areas that were laid down some. When it was nothin' but confused 4-5' soup (with the wind and boats you can imagine) they would fall back. Admittedly some of this was getting off their modified power, but I'd just palm the trusty magnum sticks to the dash (making sure they were all the way forward with the heel of my hand, repeatedly) and rip. Working just trim and tabs we were flat out f@&king amazing for all 165 nautical miles! Too busy hanging on to the boat to throttle much...and besides w/rev limiters and small power...what the hell...take a chance on Bravos Just tap..tap...tappin' off the top of the chit. You've got to fly them pad bottom boats HIGH and LEVEL to get all the goodness, as I've said before. So at the end of the day, at the docks gettin' ready for the banquet, these silvering-haired 50 somethings come over and are standing by the back of the boat as I toil away TCB. I recognize these gentelmen from the high-rent district on the docks, runnin' some high dollar 38-40 footers in the run. The one fella asks the obligitory question about power..I says "carbed 454 mags" he says "bull**** ha..ha..ha". "Do I have to show you?" ...."no kid, we believe you...but let me say this...you were hung high and straight all day long with what looked like 2-3 feet of daylight under the boat at all times...how the hell do you do it?" My answer was simple..."I'm a Velocity guy..this isn't my first one". Nuff said... they wished me good luck with my cards and "enjoy the banquet". I sure as hell did...I had drawn the #7 decal for the boat in my color group for the second year in a row that morning...took second best hand that night with 3 Kings, Ace high. Not to mention Boatpix got a half dozen shots from all angles from the 'copter with the boat level 4-5' in the air, clearly identifying those Hydromotives! A fitting end to the day as my partner and I had worked our balls off to run like that! I could hardly get all the spoils in my truck. Yea...satisfaction....Anybody ready for SPRING yet?
