What is my Velocity worth?
 

Thinking about selling our 1996 280, (26' w/ swim platform)?
It has:
1999 Carb HP500 with offshore engine mounts w/ 203 hours. Engine still has Mercury seals in place.
Bravo1 with drive shower
Eickert Exhaust
Eickert Full Hydraulic steering,
280s K-planes with Gaffrig Mech indicators
Shotgun mufflers
Both Full and cockpit covers.
3 props, 27" 4 blade Hydromotive, 28" bravo1 and labbed 28" bravo1
Stainless Steel Purple Sunbrella Color matched Bimini top
Gaffrig Trim on the throttle
Fresh water flush kit
Manula drop out bolsters
Porta potty
JVC CD/Stereo with Pioneer speakers and 200 watt sub.
Built in battery charger
1998 Towmaster Aluminum trailer with disk brakes, Aluminum rims and spare. About 500 miles on trailer, boat sits on our lift.
Runs 77-80 mph depending water conditions.
Thinking about asking 36,000.00

You've got alot of good equipment there, well worth the money, but what's going to hurt you is that there are a couple of brand new ones(99s & 2000s) out there floating around for sale for mid forties. Good luck, the fact that your on the east coast and they are on the west coast of Fl. will help.

I sold my 1996 280 with a 515 cubic inch Innovation in the spring for 45000.00,it was in pristine condition and had all of the goodies,for what you have on your boat you should be able to get good money,good luck.

I had my very dialed in 80mph 1994 26' T'bred for sale for two years at that price and below. Very similar to your description. The problem you run into is that banks won't lend a lot for an 8 year old boat and very few guys have that kind of change rattling around. They can finance a new $80k boat easier than pay cash for a $36k boat.

I wish you the best and hope you have better luck than I did. I finally sold it for high twenties.

2 years ago I sold my 1996 26 with a custom Express Engines 454 making similar power to your HP500 with very similar options (Eickert, etc.) and trailer for $50,000. (I got REAL lucky finding the right buyer)

$35,000 - $40,000 would seem to be the ballpark 2 years later.

Dean, no, I bought it in 1995 from a guy on the east coast named Clay that frequents the board occassionally. Had a great time with it and loved the boat, still miss it. I've never had a boat that handles or was as fast as that one. Just picked up a old Cig 28SS and am getting it sorted out.

I've been advertising my 02 280 w 50 hrs for just under $60,000 with a few bites. In fact, if the financing goes through it may be sold this weekend. The market is soft, but of course if you are trying to buy its HOT!
