The older 26's are the same hull as a 280 without counting the swim platform.

My "Velocity 26" is definately the same as the 280.
26 foot hull + 2' platform = 280
I think they started calling them 280's around 1997 or 1998 when they went to the fiberglass swim platform (personally I like the tubular better.)
The 260 is a chopped 26' (only 24' hull.)

I'm not sure how far you are from me, but mine is really worth checking out & the the price is negotiable (plus I'm 35 min. from Atlantic city :drink: .)
If you want some other vouchers for the condition, ask some other members on the board that were at Velocityfest in MD this past year. Mine was the one that says KATYWOMPUS across the transom.

Sorry for the hard sell, but we're building a new house so I'll need to be boatless for a year or two. :(

Don, I live in York, PA. That's not to far from you. Does your Velocity have a windscreen? Some of the early Velocity's didn't come with a windscreen. Price isn't as much of a concern. However I only am looking for a 280. Not 290's or 260's.

Nope, no windscreen. I called the factory & was told around $1100-1200 for a windshied, for either the smoked plexiglass one or the aluminum framed one.
York PA is only a couple of hrs away from me. If you find yourself headed this direction call me & you can kick the tires.

Oh, did I mention that the boat is religiously maintained and the porta-potti has never been used. :D

Does the 99 hade all the goodies? Like full hydraulic steering, Trim tabs, Race mounts. If not you might want to take a look at mine. Im sure you can't get a 99 for $30,000.00.
Any way you go you won't be dissapointed in the 28 Velocity.

Paul, It has a low hour 540ci with 600hp., 380 K Tabs, full hydraulic, GPS speedo, race mounts, shower drive, swim platform, WINDSCREEN, stainless riser, remote oil filter, Hydromotive prop, AmeriTrail trailer,etc. BUT NOT EXACTLY FOR $30,000
I'll give you a call. I'd like to see it this weekend.

Call Kenny at the Velocity Factory. He has people all the time trading in used boats and he usually buys them so they can purchase a new Velocity. I think he may have a 2001 now without power. He can probably help. 407-321-1340

Congrats on the purchase. I seem to recall seeing a Velocity racing in the old E class with the same name (in the Great Lakes races) - perhaps it's the same boat or same original owner?

Seeing you're located in York, PA - let me know if you're interested in boating at the NJ shore and meeting some NJ area Velocity guys. If you are a Chesapeake guy, then Velocity Fest is a fantastic opportunity to meet local owners and the factory folks.

Rick, It is the same boat. It will be at my house this weekend. I'd be interested in boating this summer. Especially the Velocity Fest. Been to the Northeast Chesa. many times. One of these days. I too, have a 1996 Velocity 280 for sale, here are the specs:
1998 Tow master Aluminum Tandem Axel Trailer and Aluminum wheels w/ surge disk brakes,
1999 HP500 with Eikert headers, 207 Hrs. Mobil 1 oil/filter change every 25 hours! Engine runs AWESOME and has orginial engine seals still on it. Offshore Engine Race Mount.
Fresh water flush, built in battery charger, 280 S K-planes, Eickert Full Hydraulic steering, Shotgun mufflers, Gaffrig Mech. Trim indicators, Trim on the Throttle, 1.5 Bravo1 outdrive with drive shower, 2 props, 1 labbed 28p Bravo1, and 27p Quad4, Stainless steel Bimini, Custom cockpit and full covers, Fire boy Auto Fire Ext. system, Garmin MAP76S GPS, JVC AM/FM/CD stereo with wireless remote, and removable faceplate, 200 watt sub and 4 Pioneer speakers, Porta Potti.
