I still have a few small issues to work out on my build
but I am very pleased with my props.
They get up on plane very quickly and mid range speed is very good. I am very pleased

What is your boat and power level? Also what pitch and gear ratio for your drives?

In my 37 AT I was getting 13% slip with the Maximus props prior to having them labbed to my hull. That was in relatively flat water. My numbers would be a bit better in 2-3 foot chop.

Is that good bad? What were you before With other props versus now with cutting edge?, thanks

endeavour32 06-04-2019 06:09 PM

So you are at 11% slip, that seems good, what were you at prior? Do you remember?

Coreconstruction 06-04-2019 07:44 PM

I had 496” before and regular bravo outdrives
the boat saw a best of 79 with 24 pitch hydromotive

Finally tried my 28 pitch Cutting Edge 5 Blades. Getting on plane was better, no cavation, cruising speed is up by 2-4 mph and top speed is the same as before with a 28p Bravo 1 four blade. I'm impressed!!

Hey Diamond those look great! Are those the Max 5 copy from Cutting Edge?
Also I see you have the same top speed as a 28p bravo, but I'm assuming your RPMs went down?

DiamondPerformance 11-27-2019 11:33 AM

Yes, Max 5 copy. RPM's stayed the same as the Bravo 1.

Good to hear. I'm going to purchase a 28p max 5 copy just like yours then. I'm building up a forged internals Whipple 496 for my stepped hull Nordic 28 Heat this winter and I think this prop will work.

My 28P just arrived today. Eulises was great to work with on the sale. It will be a couple months before my engine is done and I can test it. The workmanship looks beautiful. Blades are definitely thin (Labbed).

87MirageIntruder 07-24-2020 05:08 PM

Update: I've run this new 15" 28P Cutting Edge 5 blade (pictured earlier) a couple times now with my newly built Whippled 496 (estimate 650HP or so) on my Nordic Heat. It handles great, much like the Max 5 I had on the boat before the engine build. It gets on plane without cavitation, no weird handling stuff happening. Ran at 5000 RPM at 75mph so it looks like around 15% slip (at 1,500' elevation). This is 1% slip greater than the 23P Max 5 had, but we're also talking a 230HP+ increase so hard to compare here apples to apples here. Overall I'm satisfied with it.

Next to test is a Hill Signature SL4 30p 4 blade. If that's too tall a pitch I'll try a 4 blade 28 either Bravo or Signature. My engine has the rev set at 5,700 so I can spin it up a little more if needed.
