Whats the difference between 4's and 5's?

mrhorsepower1 09-20-2009 09:00 AM

A big shaft #4 is the same as a #5

Sorry Dean, a big shaft #4 is NOT the same as a #5. They may have the same external dimensions, but that is it. The upper gear sets are different, the vertical drive shafts are not the same, the lower gears are different as well as the propshafts. A lot of people will put #5 stickers on a #4 and try to pass them off as a #5. Be careful when you buy a #5, to make sure it is truly a real #5 drive. If I can be of any help, please call or e-mail me. I have 7 REAL #5 drives, see the enclosed pictures, and a lot of new parts for them.

And the gimbals have larger trim ram shafts.. I purchase a set that was sold as #5s the owner didn't now the difference because of the stickers!! He did make the price right once i explained. What gear ratio are you looking for??

hangem out 2dry 09-20-2009 10:26 PM

I would like 1:50 final or 1:33 upper.I have more gears so i will consider any combination.

hangem out 2dry 09-21-2009 10:22 AM

I will also consider #5's

I have a set of 1.5 ratio #4s with fresh paint and zero hours on them after rebuild. I also have full gimbal assemblies if you need that too. Let me know.
