Wanted Sterlings with Big Chief Heads

I am looking for a spare set of motors for my Skater. Would prefer Sterlings but anything with Big Chief Heads will work.

I currently have the 1150s and would like to stay there.

I am open to purchasing wore out motors if available.

Under $50,000 for the pair is my budget and I have seen the 2 sets in the classifieds already.

Thanks

Brett

I know about the set of 1350s out of a Skater listed for $65k.
CK motorsports had a set listed but they were the wrong cubic inch.

I'm checkin' out those unused Scorpions now. Look identical to my Sterlings and might work.

These are 1550 Sterlings, which should be 557's. in an OL. They are up near OKC. I went and looked at them, they were pretty clean.

I would check those engines out carefully. To the best of my knowledge, those 1550's were in that OL when it rolled over at Smoke on the Water and killed some of the occupants.

You are correct. However they were rebuilt by Brad Smith a couple yrs ago I assume they are good but have no real knowledge about them.

We are checking out the details on this set now.

They are EFI and mine are not. I would like a little more plug and play so if we break we are down less than a few weeks but I'm being told it might not be a big deal to have one set EFI and the other carburatated.

44MTI 04-23-2014 02:13 PM

Hope it works out, I am sure you'll need electic fuel pump for these as the EFI tends to need alot more fuel pressure.
Also Randy at MTI has a set of Big chief motors built by Keith Eikert that may be for sale. They are very similiar to yours being Big Chief and Carbs. They are also suppose to be fresh, and look to be. They are from Gerry Castelts MTI
