Garmin GPSMAP 188C
I need a Garmin GPSMAP 188C to replace the broken unit in my dash.
Built my dash around this unit when I performed the 3 year rebuild/ rerig of my boat 2003- 2006. Designed & built my dash panel to fit this unit.
Paid just under $700 for this unit in 2005. Unit stopped working in the second season (2007)!
Called Garmin, they said $100 to fix, with a 1 year warranty from the day they send it back to me. I figured I’d wait until I’m going to use my boat (I knew I wouldn’t use it for a few years).
A while back I decided 2014 is the year the old Excalibur is hitting the water.
I called Garmin last fall (2013) they said, The GPSMAP188C is discontinued; they don’t repair units that are no longer sold! (they don't have the parts to service them)
So now I have to recut my dash for a newer model or find a used GPSMAP 188C.
Anybody have a lead on a good used one?
