Like I said, its not always about "diameter" for getting on plane. If the prop's blades cant hold water, they cant hold water, and they just blow out. Doesnt matter if they are 16'', or 18''. I've been thru this stuff with #4 and #5 boats quite a few times now. I've seen ****tty 16 3/4 four blades, plane better than 17.5"x28 five blades. Ive had 3 blades get me on plane very well, where some 4 blades of equal diameter, didnt get on plane at all.

Yes, I remember Dan mentioning the "cupping" of the blade played a huge factor when he finally figured it out. Problem is, damn near impossible to tell that when you are buying them second hand over the internet, unless it's from someone like BBlades that can tell you they have "cup".

I've already spend almost $6K on props, gets real expensive to "test" to see what works. I really want a 17.5"-32 pitch that will work and get me on plane, The boat seems to like 32p a lot, and the cruise speed with 32s is right where I want it. I doubt it could push 34s, but I could always change pulleys and up the anty......

Please let me know if you come across what I'm looking for - 17.5" dia x 32pitch 4 blade with "cup", or stock units that I can send out to have some work done on them. The 32s I have are already labbed and too thin to work the blades.
