IMCO SCX4 Upper

Looking to trade my SCX upper for an SCX4 upper. Purchased it a few months ago and unfortunately not working for my set-up.

I don't believe they will interchange. They have a different bolt pattern mating to the lower.
You can bolt a standard IMCO lower to an SCX upper with an adapter for the vertical shaft.
You cant do that for the SCX4 upper.

What Daytona do you have?
What is your prop shaft height now?

Tinkerer 07-14-2018 08:25 PM

I am running the IMCO -3 shortie and an X drive upper.
I am running an IMCO neutral extension box with my prop shaft at 2 inches above the lowest point on the hull.

i have a 26 daytona. Prop height is 1 1/4" above the lowest point of the sponsons. Im running a -2 scx lower with a cleaver. I need to either change entire drive and raise the x dimension a few more inches so i can surface the drive or stay with my upper and go back to a sc lower with a bravo prop. You are correct its a different bolt pattern. Im open to trade my complete imco scx upper and lower for a complete scx4.

i can also run a -3 sc lower and bring the prop shaft up 1". How is your boat running with that set-up. What boat, motor, and drive ratio? Speed?

Tinkerer 07-14-2018 09:08 PM

I have a 2001 26. I am running 800+ HP, I have been running a labbed BRAVO 28. Drive is 1.36 ratio.
I had to modify the drive for more negative trim to get on plane.
112 MPH

Those are good numbers. Have your tried a 5 blade? That will help get you on plane. Are you still 2" above the bottom? Im thinking the boat should run 110+ with the 1.34 and a 5 blade maximus.

I tried a stock Maximus 26 and it did plane better but not a lot better.
The boat didn't like the 5 blade even with the bell cut off. I had SO much transom lift that I couldn't get the bow to fly. Top speed was 94 MPH and the boat was riding on the bow and the prop.
At 94 I cut the throttle and it was as if I had slammed on the brakes. The cooler dumped over and everything slid forward.
Even with the 4 blade I have a 4% slip ratio.
Yes I am still at 2 inches above.
that is where the factory told me to put it. They said I would have trouble getting on plane but with the right prop it was do able.
I don't have problems with the labbed bravo 4 blade - it just takes a little longer than with the prop at 1 inch below.
I went from low 90's with 650 HP to 112 anytime with 800 HP

That’s odd that you had issues with the 5 blade. Boat should of ran better and faster. What pitch, gear ratio and RPM where you getting 4% slip?
