Wanted a good 177 blower

I sent my blowers to DMPE to get refreshed and low and behold 1 is not repairable due to the bearing plate being to worn and apparently you cant get a new bearing plate. I tried ordering a new blower from Holley and its mounting holes on the manifold are different and no one at Holley can tell me which one I need to order. I'm looking for a good 177 blower either complete or housing that mounts with the 4 bolts on the top of the blower. I will consider other 177's if the manifold comes with it as well as 250's or 420's as long as they are complete with carbs and linkages. Any help would be appreciated.

How much do you want for it? You can pm your number if you want.

Cdail,

It's just too bad we don't have any decent machinists on this forum who could probably repair that bearing plate.

Thanks. Brad.

Get the replacement part and fix the old one, it would be an easy fix for a good machine shop
I have done some basic repairs on mine, and I'm neither good or a machine shop, just have a tig and Bridgeport.

According to DMPE no one makes a replacement part and this is a common failure point on older 177 blowers and generally once the plate is messed you cant repair it because its cast. No one makes billet replacement pieces for the 177's like the do for the bigger blowers. I agree it would be nice if someone could repair it. Brad, if you think you can repair I will be more than happy to send you the bad piece to look at.

Welding cast is a non issue, just needs to be prepped properly. Cast is porous so the oil can impregnate the part, just needs to be drawn back out. I've modified a 30 year old thermostat housing, now that had some impurities in it!

Cdail,

I'd certainly be willing to have a look at it. I would have no intentions of welding it, though. I would machine a pocket, make a slug, secure it with screws and dowels and re-machine bearing pocket. I wouldn't know if this is feasible until I can lay eyes on it, though. Your call. Doesn't really sound like you've got much to lose, though. Send me a text or PM if you want to trade addresses.

Thanks. Brad.
