okie tunnel
where have you been, have you changed anything this year? :D
|
Re: okie tunnel
I just posted to your other thread. I had seals blown on a drive and the gears were getting torn up. I just bit the bullet and added IMCO SC drives ( Bulletproof I hope!) We also turned the motors up another 100HP per side. I am also adding 5 blade props which are supposed to be in before the weekend. I was running more than 20% slip and on the rev limiters with the 30 Bravo four blades. We also added a GPS speedometer. The props are supposed to help me lift the nose as well as get my slip where it should be. I will be out on Saturday as long as the props come in. Feel free to call me if you want at the office. I may not be able to talk right then but will call back.

Re: okie tunnel
i will be going down to texoma this weekend to put my drive back on sat afternoon. i have changed alot on my boat last winter. looks alot better. what did you do to get another 100hp out of your motors,or is that top secret :D .

Re: okie tunnel
My motors are 525 SC's if you remember. Leon Dereberry is doing the work this week. It is a pulley change and some carb rejetting. He has done alot of 525 SC's like this. He did the first few on the dyno and gets right at 100HP. I will check on my old drives for you. Leon and I haven't worked it out yet but they will be sold.

Re: okie tunnel
What model boat do you run? How does it go?
|
Re: okie tunnel
Warlock 31 sxt Twin 525SC's putting out about 600HP each now, IMCO SC drives and now heavily labbed 38pitch 4 blades. We are porpoising at 100 and are getting it worked out. Expecting close to 110 if we can get it dialed correctly. I think the previous owner raised these drives too much.
We are adjusting the trim tunnel tabs to correct the porpoise but I think we will have to drop the X dimension to get it right enough for 110. |
Re: okie tunnel
what ratio are you using 1.5 or 1.36 w/ 38 pitch it must be a dog out of the hole. the guy i bought my boat from said they couldnt plain out w/ imco shorties
|
Re: okie tunnel
what rpm are you spinin those 38s at, and is that gps speed or a guessometer :evilb: also heard you had a hard time getting out of your ramp at c.c
|
Re: okie tunnel
They are coming out of the whole fine if I am loaded light but sloow after a fillup and four adults. Speed is brand new GPS Gaffrig monster guage. Ratio is 1.36 Five blades didn't work well running 96 spinning in and less spinning out (or vice versa)
|
Re: okie tunnel
Oh yeah, Ramp at C.C. is sucking! Gonna try Buncombe next weekend. Is that the one you use? Did you get your drive installed? Leon has my old Bravo's for sale if you are looking.

Re: okie tunnel
Okietunnel, I Turn the wrenches on my brothers 28 SXT and was thinking about trying a 5 blade prop. I asked the boys at Warlock what they suggested and their reply was "don't bother". They say that the Bravo 4 blade is the best prop for their hull. The 28 Bravo works very well (also using the Imco drive)except we have to shake it loose to get on plane. They said that is normal. The boat will run mid 90's . last fall, with perfect conditions, we ran 103 (gaffrig GPS speedo). Thats a stock HP500 with a procharger @ 5# boost. Love them Warlocks!

Re: okie tunnel
I am going to put in Friday through Sun and maybe Monday. I am going to call you at DC pickup if I can tomorrow to exchange cell numbers.
|
Re: okie tunnel
thats sounds good to me :D

Re: okie tunnel
Sorry I didn't get you called last week. I am going to try to call you tomorrow and get your cell. Then I can always buzz you when I am at the lake. It should be even more often now. I just bought a lakehouse in Cardinal Hill. :drink:

Re: okie tunnel
Okie, are you using tunnel tabs on your 31? Mine doesn't have them, but I drove a 31 before buying mine with them and it was smooth like silk.
|
Re: okie tunnel
Yes, I have tunnel tabs. You need to get some. Since I adjusted them down to about 1/4 inch below the tunnel I am coming out of the hole ALOT faster. I didn't expect it to change the takeoff but its like a different boat. I am still adjusting as we speak. I am trying to get some 90-100mph porpoise out of it.

Re: okie tunnel
were you at texoma this past weekend.
|
Re: okie tunnel
how does your boat act with the shorter drives. thinking of going to shorties myself.
|
Re: okie tunnel
Hi Johnny, I wasn't at the lake last weekend but I will be there this weekend. You need to measure your X dimension and compare it to mine. We think we are going to ultimately have to add a spacer to bring the X dimension down to make this boat run at its full potential. We think the prop is just a little too far out of the water. I am going to run it FridaY and see top speed. I made tab adjustments a few weeks ago and noted how well it planes but I never ran it over95 or so. If it didn,t lose any top speed with the change (or hopefully starts picking some up) I will keep taking the tunnel tabs down. When it starts scrubbing speed I will add the spacers on the lowers if we aren't near 110. I'll bet your x dimension is lower than mine right now but yours may be closer to correct than mine.
