havasu will get much better in about 6 weeks..all the morons will then head for glamis. as for the poor customer service mentioned in so cal..if your working cust. serv. your making 7, at most 10 bucks an hour. you can't afford to live in so cal on that so the more you work, the poorer you become, depression sets in and you become bitter, and begin resenting your job and the customers. when I moved from san diego to toledo I transfered with my company same position doing te same thing 33% raise and cheaper cost of living.

I 2nd that...
I travel extensively on business and had the fortunate opportunity to do stay in Lk Havasu City for 15 days in July 08...Since I absolutely love boats, I take tons of boating pix. Unfortunately, I got into a very serious fight fight while doing same...
I was on the canal walkway taking pix of all the hot boats, when a heavily tattooed guy, his wife w/kids walked in front of me just as I was taking a boat pix...
The moron stops and confronts me...accusing me of taking pix of his wife's azz...I told him that it was he, that walked in front of the camera and I wasn't even shooting boats in his direction. Needless to say, he turned and approached me, while shouting obscenities at me...Big mistake on his part...I let him know that I don't roll like that, but I'm ready to rock-the-house, if he steps any closer...Note: for the sake of future lawsuits, I decided to snap an aggressive pix as evidence...
As you can see, his wife is telling him "Stop being an azzhole, he wasn't even taking pix of me and it's not that serious...
Again, I'm a big guy and I love physical contact...I also warned him twice, but he didn't listen...He grabbed my arm and I knocked the "**** out of him"...A scuffle insued, when he got up, and his boat buddies and the beach/park patrol broke the fight up...
I felt pretty bad about doing that in front of his family, but he was very lucky that he didn't, get shot...
BTW...I was told that he wasn't even a boater, just came to Havasu to hang out with some of his boater buddies...
Bottom Line...I was amazed at the police presence on the beach/jet ski/boat, when I first arrived...I even asked the police for general boating info. and beach rules/protocol... But, I guess I had to learn 1st hand...Havasu is a very beautiful boating area, but the local boaters are not very friendly and are rather cliquish...I had a heck of a time striking up offshore boating conversations...It seems that everyone is from somewhere else and apparently aren't used to speaking to tourist/strangers/outsiders... But, due to the begging beach bums and canal azzholes (both boaters and wanna be klingons), I decided to simply rent some fishing gear and spend the rest of my free time fishing at Site Six...I was thinking of towing my offshore cross country for the next Desert Storm Run, but I probably will never return to Havasu, unless it is for business...Very sad...Very sad...
Aside: I will also be in Phoenix, Az. 9/29/08 - 10/12/08...Would like to meet some OSO'rs...Please contact me...If not, ), I guess I'll just hang out at the Lk Pleasant boat ramp and look at all the pretty boats...as usual...Special Note: posted a similar post for Lk. Havasu on 6/12/08...as of this writing...I had 75 viewers and ZERO replies...Go figure...
Special Note:
I've got pix but, haven't figured out how to attach them...
Not sure if registered members have that privilege...
The 1st two pix are the boats I was actually shooting...
The 3rd is Mister Bad Azzz....
If you know this guy...tell him I said hello...

Sorry you had a bad experience!!! I live here and have seen changes both good and bad.
Havasu really is a beautiful place and there's more than the channel. Unfortunately you met a POS during your visit.
Desert Storm brings a whole different level of people. A lot less thug and more boaters.
I'll post the pics if you e-mail them. [email protected]

Havasu needs more Beaches and sand. No way will I park my hull onto the lakes rocky shoreline on a busy weekend. From the Channel to Windsor beach & from Windsor beach to mosquito cove. They need to clear out all that brush & bring in sand to park a $200,000 hull. The sand bar is closed by SBCS so where do you go??? The Channel ??? Windsor Ramp can let about 1000 boats in and the Channel has enough room for about 200 boats... so were do you go? Site 6, Havasu Marina, "Body Beach", "That Beach", Cat Tail Cove, Havasu Landing, Topac Ramp, Needles Ramp, all let boats in..... 3000-5000 boats on the water.... We need nore sandy beaches. A boardwalk can be built so cops can keep law and order and families can relax. Parking for cars can be built so you can get to gear or run for ice and not have to rely on hauling gear. They NEED more ramps too!!! Your closed out by noon at Windsor and Site 6 is a 3Hr joke! Not a nice way to spend a holiday from LA. Havasu needs to get this! People will spend there money somewhere else! Havasu was built by the boating community! Whithout the lake... most in havasu wouldn't even have come! We need to support boaters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The core value to Havasu is a predictable water condition and other people who want to run their boats at the limit of the boat and their skill set. The channel is for "posers" and always has been. They serious Guys stay out of it, too much risk for damage to the equipment from poor decision making fueled by too much alcohol, etc.
My humble opinion - if you are never going under 100MPH (except ideling out of the no wake zone) you don't need a nice beach...

This type of stuff isn't just limited to Havasu. In Washington the sandbar on the Wanapum (AKA Crecent Bar) which is home to most of the performance boaters in the area gets overwhelmed with the "posers" and other people that in general have no buisiness being on a boat. From what i have observed, It usually starts with people that bring out a ton of their freinds, usually overloading their boats and proceed to get completely obliterated drunk and beligerent. It has gotten so bad that they are attempting to make the area dry.
The best thing is to be a responsible boater, repect the other boaters on the lake and not contribute to the problem.

Divinstar,
I just check the thread and called, but you have apparently moved on. Give me your current hotel number and I'll try you again. If you can make it tomorrow, I'll juggle some things around and make it happen. If I we can't do it then, I'm afraid it will not work out. I'm flying to Bay City, MI on Friday for a wedding this weekend. I believe you said you'd only be in town til the 12th.
