Niiice. I have the same experience as all posts here: A Scarab or a Cig would be the only two kinds of boats surviving out there. My wife is from Maui and we often think about moving back to her roots as we visit quite often. If I ever did, I would bring my Scarab 34SS as well as a 42" + Bertram Sportfish. We have heard about the Fountain out there but NEVER seen him, who in their right mind would run a flat bottom 47 footer out there anyway??? Beatiful place with LOTS of rough water challenges as well as superior fishing grounds, love the place!!

I ended up seeing an add with rent a scarab powerboat (i think it was complete with a driver) and the picture had a wellcraft excaliber being towed by a hummer. So I finally found something with offshore powerboats!.

What a magic place. I'm going back in 3 weeks....I'm hooked.

When you get there look for a Yellow and Blue 29ft Larry Smith Scarab Called "Ahui Hou" Its home is in the Honolulu
area but the owner has a fishing shack on the coast Maui in
the town of Makena, Its a twin outboard with on of Brownies
motor mounts. MJ
