Laughlin, Needles, Blythe, Yuma...?

Hey All,

I just bought "my" first boat, 93' Scarab Sprint. Grew up boating on Mead. Was wondering if anyone has any good info for boating out on the lower river...where to launch, where to hang out...etc

Thanks!

In Laughlin- Lake Mojave, launch at Catherines landing (or possibly Telephone Cove) there is a real nice Basin about 10+ miles across about 6-8 miles north of the launch ramp(s) then Cottonwood and goes all the way up to almost the Hoover Dam. Its about 70 miles each way on the water. A full days trip but beautiful scenery. Note: can get real rough, I did the trip in my '22 Scarab back on the 4th of July 1998.
-If you launch on the river south of the dam (Davis in Laughlin) you can launch on the Arizona side,at Davis Park just north of the bridge or at the public launch just south of the Casinos, or at Big Bend (?) just south of the Casinos on the Nevada side. Perhaps even at the Riverside Hotel with a boat that small, but be careful of the current at that ramp. Now I havent been on either for a few years but i'm sure things haven't changed a whole lot.
Also Laughlin (on the river) connects all the way down to Havasu but their is some real shallow areas between Laughlin and Needles. I did that run on a Sea doo back in 1994.
In Needles there is a public launch ramp by the Marina , but consider launching at Park Moabi(? spelling) about 12 miles past Needles or at Golden Shores at the Bridge at the I40 and the river. Both are very close to Topock Gorge which has some great scenery.
I cannot comment on Blythe as I have only been there once back in 1989 with my brother and have never been to Yuma.
Parker on the other hand has the Bluewater Casino which has a marina and launch ramp ( I believe). But I have only been on that water once at the mini truck run "Spring Splash" on my jet ski/sea doo back in 1994.
Good luck and come check out the Scarab club we are trying to get off the ground in the Scarab section of the Forum if you haven't checked it out yet....Mike:drink::drink::drink:

Mojave, Havasu, Mead, Powell..stay in the lakes. The river will cost you $$$$. That is what Jet boats and Jet skis are for.
