Shasta

Planning a visit to Lake Shasta in August of 09 for my girl and her twins 40th Bday. She spent 15 years in Cali and says she wants to rent a houseboat for the week in Shasta.
Any ideas as far as what to see, where to stay/go. I get bored easy :) Are jet skis allowed. We have a malibu wakeboat coming.

I have no idea about jet skis and what not...

I will say, I just drove over Shasta last week and my god the water looked F'ing low.

Is that normal?

Shasta

We have been to Shasta several times and rented houseboats. They do allow jet skis and pwcs but I cant remember if there is a speed limit or not. There is a cool cavern to explore and tons of hiking if you are in to that stuff but mostly water sports. The different marinas are cool to check out because of all the people that hang around them. Silverthorn resort usually has live music and dancing on Sat nite. You will have a great time.

You will have a great time. I basically grew-up boating on that lake. The water level may be low now, but there is still plenty of real estate on the lake to find a nice cove with some excellent wake boarding/water skiing areas. Here are a couple of photos from three years ago:

How big is the lake? Say compared to Havasu?

Big enough to tow the cig behind a houseboat for a week?

Anymore pics of Shasta? I haven't been there since I was a kid and always wanted to take the cig up there.

Shasta is only down 54' from the crest. 301 miles of shoreline. My first trip is the Cat Attack June 19-21. I have not been on the lake in 16 years...
