Are you there for just the day?

The waterfront (Harbor drive) is a big tourist area by the water.

Head west young man! There are only two places you will run into. Catalina or Hawaii!

Many run out to the Coronado Islands or up to La Jolla Cove to snorkel and watch dolphins and whales. Some travel south to Ensenada (Coral Marina) for a night in Mexico. Nice resort with good marina docks. Unleaded 87 and diesel is available and quality is pretty good as long as you aren't getting the bottom of the tank. Fido is the marina manager and he will take care of you. Make sure you have all your paperwork in order if you plan to head south.

IMO, stay out of the "new" La Salina marina near Rosarito unless of course you plan to traffic illegals/drugs, since 99% of what is being "seen" on the smaller panga scene is coming from this area.

DO NOT GO ON MISSION BAY!!!!!!!!!
lived there 7 yrs...rude,stupid, inexperienced = dangerous. not all but enough to ruin your day and you'll never get on plane.
put in at the ramp out near sea world and run the coast or islands like others suggested
