Up the river you got the sandbar, about 5 miles up, then Topock Gorge which is a "no wake" and then there is Pirates Cove which is about 20 miles up from the mouth of the river. They are in the process of rebuilding Topock Marina which is just before Pirates Cove on the AZ. side just after the I-40 bridge. Then after all that is Needles, CA. with Avi Casino above that then on to Laughlin. That is kinda a summary of whats up river.
Just be careful going up river in the morning. They shut down the dams at night and the water gets real low. They let more water out as the days goes by so in the evening you can hammer hard and not worry too much. Here's the sand bar back in the day. Have fun! |

since your gonna b there a while I think a better option is to stay at the rv parks over the London Bridge. Nice single and double wides furnished for rent. Up close water views , BBq pits, patios, trees, boat slips and areas to beach during the day. RV parks have there own private launch ramps so no long lines. The lines I have seen in town seemed like 1/4mi long, hot and everyone is pissed off. Everyone gets around on bicycles, golf carts and sidexsides. I usually stay at Crazy Horse, the party's are off the hook during spring break and no cops, no dui's. Have fun, JAIME
