Default Poofed drive. My bad.

I know that we have beat this drive issue to death but another word from a slow learner might help. I recently picked up my Crockett 930HP Whipple 565 in my Laveycraft cat. I used a new IMCO upper and lower. I've been testing props and have not come on plane hard at all and have rolled gently on the throttle in all instances. The drive lasted 2 hours.

The upper gear set let go and put metal everywhere. I should have known better than to subject the IMCO and my billfold to this. The IMCO is a fine piece but IS NOT designed for this much torque, even applied gently. So, I'm going back with a Max Machine Worx upper set up as best they can for my application. My plan is to get a BMAX this fall and use the other drive for a spare. I'll let you know how it goes.

Meanwhile, if you see an orange and white cat sitting still you might come over and ask if a tow is required. Happy boating. Quent

will probably jinx me but...
on my third season with a max machine worx b1 attached to a 25 daytona and 1000 hp quad rotor...on inspection at the beginning of this season, the lower gears were pitted and replaced but everything else was fine....

easy on and off the throttles and no flying, full throttle re-entry...

It seems to be the weak link,My motor makes over 950 ft ls tq and max drives are holding up with exception of lower gears,Smitty

Quent,
Saw your busted upper at Eric's today. Messed mine up over the weekend too. I guess misery loves company .
I've heard some good testimonials on the Max Machine Bravos too.
How did the boat run before you broke the drive??
Best Regards,
Steve
