Default gm car question

my grandma is on a fixed income so i am trying to fix her car, its a 97 buick lesabre it will turn over but not start, changed the fuel pump relay, pump in tank,it will run if i soak a rag with gas and hold it in frt of the throttlrebody. im banging my head against the wall dont know what to do.

what size engine and type of injection?check for pressure at schrader valve,I also don't think holding a gas soaked rag in front of throttle body a good idea,backfire and your looking at serious injury

Make sure the pump is getting power,check at relay or where ever the coonection is at the tank,make sure you have power to the pump.

After checking for fuel pressure at the rail, check for injector pulse and power. Do you have spark?

Make sure it has gasolene in the tank. As a service mgr. at car dealership I saw lots of cars with wrong fuel. IE: diesel, kerosene.
