Default Pressure relief valve failure

I installed a water pressure relief valve from Teague for the 05 season. It worked very well keeping my pressure below 25psi even at WOT. After 40hrs of total run time I started losing pressure, and could barely keep 10psi even at 80mph. After checking every hose and fitting for debris, I found the valve was wide open and letting free exchange of water at all times.

I called Teague and Adrian in parts said they normally only warranty these a year, and I had it for 20 months. Since it was an $80 part that I had to replace I was annoyed, so he offered to have the boss call me. I’m glad to report a short time latter, Bob Teague called me, and a new valve is on the way.

In an industry with so many bad raps, it's nice to see Teague stand behind their products.

Thanks, Bob

Dave

At least that worked out better than your 1 year old GGB's that split in half. I keep checking mine to see if there are any cracks in the welds. So far, so good. However, I am sure that when and if they do crack , they will just fall off as did yours.

They are the ½” intercooler relief valves.

Vinny,
Fionn at Oneill Offshore has my GGB’s now. He is going to build another for me, and reinforce the problem areas.

That is the exact reason I am now avoiding the relief valve setup, fear of it sticking open. My WP has been hitting 50psi this yr, so I have been limiting my rpms to 3500. I'm in the process of modifying an old style Merc T-stat housing with the 4 hose setup that incorporates the bypass system . And no moving parts!

That's good to hear of Teague honoring your valve.

Dave,

Yes, I forgot you had told me they were being repaired. Hopefully, they will hold together this time.
