496 risers
quick simple question
will 496 mag ho risers bolt to stock mercruiser manifolds ?
i know that water piping is different , the stock 454 manifolds use a wet joint between manifold and riser , and the 496 uses a dry joint , but i could plumb past that
is the bolt square the same?

No, the 496 risers are a different bolt pattern and dimensions than older Merc manifolds including the dry versus wet joint.
I believe Imco and Gil both made some special risers for these older manifolds a few years back but I don't know if they are still available and how much of a real improvement they would make. I think you should really eliminate the wet joint manifolds and invest in some newer style manifolds which will also really improve horsepower. Seems like most cheap fixes are just that , not always worth the effort or perceived savings.

I have a set of 496 manifolds if you are interested. Cheap! They need cleaned up and painted but were working. Came from a 98 496.
