Default Water pressure guage question

So where do you guys put the hose for your water pressure guages? In the block or intake? Is there any difference?

Reason I ask is, I just built a new motor and for the first time I hooked up a guage. I used the 3/8" port right beside the T-stat housing. I'm pegging my 30psi guage at just over 3500 rpm. Engine is 502 mag efi with AFR heads, holley intake, genVI block, hardin marine oil cooler, fuel cooler, and brand new merc water pump. I'm also running a circ pump.

Thanks,
Frank

Mine was also connected at the drain on the side of the block.

30psi anywhere in the engine is too much. I think you need a pressure relief kit.

I hooked in up top like you to avoid the many complaints I heard of it getting clogged when hooking into the drain plugs.

Are your readings any higher than what they were in the block?
