Default Oil Sender

Can anyone tell me what sending units are used for Gaffrig oil pressure guages? I have the one's with the red indicator light in them.

Thanks for any input .

If they are "Gaffrig Precision Instrument" redline guages, then they are Livorsi guages. You need to use a Livorsi sender.

"Gaffrig Precision Instrument" is what they say on them, no where does it have Livorsi on it. So is that what was put on them AFTER gaff & livorsi merged?

Gaffrig and Livorsi never merged.

There were two companies using the Gaffrig name. One was Gaffrig Precision Instruments and one was Gaffrig Performance.

There was a lawsuit over the trademark of the name and Gaffrig Performance won and got to keep the name.

Gaffrig Precision Instruments changed there name to Livorsi Marine.

I don't think so.

Gaffrig Precision Instruments is now Livorsi Marine and he needs Livorsi senders.

Gaffrig or Livorsi... whatever you want to call them. Either one uses a stock Mercury sending unit.

I been researching this as i have the same gauges with the red lights.

I found a new oil pressure sending unit in the package in my boats cabin. It was a livorsi sending unit. I imagine the previous owner installed these redline gauges, and had a spare sending unit.

I was told there are two sending unit styles used. Standard and vdo. Obviously VDO is for vdo gauges. Some boats came stock with VDO gauges back in the day, so switching to gaffrig gauges caused erratic readings without changing senders. Also the oil pressure sender must be either a 80psi or 100psi relative to the gauge.

This does make sense, although i have not yet tested this advice myself. I doubt gaffrig and livorsi were manufacturing their own sending units with different resistance values.

Best bet though i would say is to call gaffrig or livorsi and ask them. Im sure this is a question they have answered a million times....................
