Question 454 MAG Correct Operating Temperature

What is the correct operating temperature for a 1987 454 MAG with carbs? Right now it is running 140. Is that not a too cool? My mechanic says leave it. Right or wrong ...good or bad?

Carbed 454mags have a 140* T stat. It should run 140-150 on the gauge.
