Default flippin da bird

Just picked up a kinda cool old a$$ 1972 formula 233

It's surprisingly solid for being over the hill. The transom is like a rock and the stringers in the engine bay check out good too.
It has a mercruiser ford 302 coupled to a mercruiser drive. This must pre date Chevy coming along and knocking ford down a peg?

The floor has a couple squishy spots, deck has the same. I'm 200+ lbs and I jumped everywhere & didn't fall thru so imo its good enough for what it is.

Fired @ a tap of the key, ran smooth, pumps water good. On a trailer that to my shock made it home 40 miles .!

Brand new vhf radio & antenna, anchor , swim platform, new 60 gal tank, most gauges work.

Scored it for $300.
If somebody is lookin for a beater.....here it is.....
I'm going to buff the hull, get everything in order & see if I can turn a small profit.
If I can't sell it by spring ill resort to plan B....
I know there's some formula freaks that lurk so I won't say what plan B is.....but it rhymes with fart.....

The owner said this thing crushes 8 ft rollers & the motors tweaked.....it GPS @32 mph !!!!! LoL x2

I'll post some pix shortly

MD

Another great find!! You made a profit as soon as you handed over the cash.

The carb is off for a rebuild ( holley 2 brl )

Anything I do from this point on I'd like to get my T&M on it.
Plan to toss some plugs & filters in, def need to replace the bunks on the trailer. They are just 2x10 that keep the boat from moving side to side. The majority of the weight is on the keel center rollers. Pack & replace bearings as needed.
Then if I'm feeling up to it I might paint the hull sides. Not to put a whore in a Sunday dress, but I've been wanting to try the brightside paint....roll & tip. Figure this may be a perfect candidate !!

Anybody use this paint ? I'm guessing white will hide the most ?

My Cousin had one of those back in the day in Newport Beach, we had tons of fun in that boat. Used to run over to Catalina in it. I hope someone gets it who will restore it. They are solid boats.

I have the stock holley from my dads 72' sea ray (302 Ford). He took it off immediately after he bough the boat new!!! little 2-barrel it's cute I should post some pics of it, it's been sitting in his basement for almost 40 years, he was going to throw it out earlier this summer, but I rescued it
