Default procharge owners need advice.

looking to purchase a procharger for my 1998 26 sonic with 502efi. i have added aftermarket exhaust and air cleaner and k+n filter. i can only get 89 octane fuel and found the m1 "sc" @3.5 psi and 570hp and m3 "sc" @5psi and 620 will work . which unit will work best for me with out having to change head gaskets etc. ? do the kits come with everything for the install and no need to add or modify the hardware? do you have to re-prog. the ecm? would it be worth using the bigger intercooler from the m3 and put it on the m1 ?any info would be appreciated.

I would go with the M3 kit. It is a bigger compressor and will generate less heat. Yes you will need the ecm reprogramed. Check with Procharger about the hardware.

Try e-mailing Tomcat. He has designed the intercooler for the Vortec setup and may have some helpful info for you.

Definately change the head gaskets during the install. A little added expense now will save you problems down the road, trust me. You will kick yourself when you are 20 miles up river and have to be towed home! I had to replace mine because they blew. 1 in the middle of the season and the other motor at the begining of the next.

26sonic, You just missed a great deal on a M1 on e-bay.

Even if it didn't have everything, the price was good.
Have you considered a whipple? They have a very good complete kit.

I think you are splitting hairs. If you don't plan on more in the future, then save the money and get the M1.

Do yourself a favor and don't buy used. I bought a used pair that had "low hrs." and had to replace them after 125 hrs.
