Default New Motor Options

NEED A NEW BBC MOTOR DUE TO A VALVE COMING APART SITUATION.ALL I HAVE LEFT ARE 6 SCAT 6.135 4340 RODS AND 6 KB FLAT TOP PISTONS.MY CRANK IS BENT ABOUT .OO1 BUT IS IRON AND ALREADY -.010 SO I DON'T REALLY WANT TO USE IT.HEADS WERE VORTEC AND ONE IS BANGED UP PRETTY BAD.NOT KEEN ON THESE HEADS DUE TO LACK OF AVAILABE INCONEL VALVES AND THERE INHERENT DETONATION PROBLEMS(I THINK THEY NEED AN ELECTRONIC FUEL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM). OPTION ONE IS A USED 454 GEN V BLOCK THAT I FOUND THAT I WAS CONSIDERING USING A SCAT 9000 CAST STEEL CRANK WITH A 4.25 STROKE,BUYING 2 NEW RODS AND USING SOME KB FLAT TOPS,WITH NEW EDELBROCK RPM HEADS.CAN I USE MY CAST CRANK FLYWHEEL WITH THIS CRANK OR DO I NEED THE FORGED CRANK FLYWHEEL .IF BUDGET PERMITS I WOULD USE A ROLLER CAM AND ROCKERS.MY SECOND OPTION (MY PREFERRED BUT FEEL FREE TO TELL ME WHY NOT)WOULD BE TO BUY A 502 SHORT BLOCK THAT COMES WITH THE 502/502 ROLLER CAM AND LIFTERS.I KNOW SOME PEOPLE HAVE CONCERNS WITH THIS CAM BUT IN MY LAST SETUP I RAN A 224/230 WITH A 110 LSA WITH NO SERIOUS REVERSION PROBLEMS.NOW MY FIRST CONCERN IS SHOULD I TEAR THIS MOTOR DOWN AND MACHINE THE BLOCK TO GET THE PISTONS UP TO DECK HEIGHT (PROPER QUENCH)AND AT THE SAME TIME I CAN CHECK TOLERANCES FOR ACCURACY.THE NEXT QUESTION IS CAN I GET AWAY WITH RUNNING THE 6 QT.OIL PAN AS MY 8 QT.PAN IS DAMAGED.I COULD PROBABLY FIX MINE BUT WOULD PREFER TO USE NEW ONE IF ITS APPLICABLE.THIRD QUESTION IS TO USE THE MERLIN 260 CC MARINE HEADS OR THE EDELBROCK 290 CC HEADS.COMPRESSION WOULD BE 8.75 WITH THE MERLINS AND I THINK THE CAM WOULD BE TO BIG (TO LOW OF COMPRESSION PRESSURE).ARE THE SPRINGS THAT COME WITH MERLINS 150# SEAT PRESSURE OK FOR THE GM CAM. IF I GO WITH THE EDELBROCK 110CC HEADS I WOULD HAVE 9.5 (MAYBE A BIT MORE IF I DECK THE BLOCK)TO 1 COMPRESSION.IS THIS TO MUCH FOR A BOAT.I WOULD LIKE TO USE MY 750 EDELBROCK CARB(BIG ENOUGH ?)AND MY STAINLESS MARINE MANIFOLDS WITH THE CORSA DIVERTERS.THIS MOTOR IS IN A 26' 5000# 24DEGREE BOAT.THE BOAT WOULD RUN 60 ON ANY GIVEN DAY WITH MY OLD SETUP.THANKS FOR ANY ADVICE.
