Default Oil Cooler Plumbing

Has anyone ever plumbed there oil cooler lines into the ports in the block on the pan rail.I was considering getting rid of the remote filter and plumbing the cooler here. The ports are only 3/8 npt. Most of the sandwich units are 3/8 npt as well. The original lines are 1/2 inch.

I'm guessing you're referring to a Gen V engine. My understanding is that those were never intended to be used for 100% of the oil supply to be run through. Stick with the remote filter/cooler setup.
