I've been asking for a phone number from the dealer for a week.
Didn't know getting a phone number from the mothership was so difficult?? If they don't get it to me soon I will contact them myself.

I certainly want to allow them the opportunity to rectify the situation.

It's really up to them. If they are fair they'll keep me as a customer and dozens of others that I will influence and everyone wins. If they are not fair than the opposite will occur. Time will tell.

I love the boat and don't want this to turn into a bad experience. This is supposed to be fun. I'd like to keep it that way.

You may want to take this approach. If they feel that their treatment of your new $30,000 motor wasn't out of line, tell them to back it up with a FREE 2 year extended warranty. I f any or all of their treatment was outside of what Mercruiser suggests, tell them to give you the extended warranty or a new engine. Its too bad you have already given them your money.
When I had my problem with the floor, I asked them if they felt if the issue was cosmetic or structural (sp). They told me it was strictly cosmetic. I then pulled out the warranty coverage statement which clearly said that they were not responsible for any cosmetic problems once I took possession of the boat ( this is common in the boat business). Since the boat was still theirs, I told them to do the repair and bump up my rebate..... or just keep their boat.
This was one fight I finally won !

Extended Warranty is a great idea. I was thinking that was an option as well. Mercury doesn't offer them but they gave me a few ideas.

nice looking boat. Don't blame you for being warm over the way they treated your boat. Can't understand why they wold do that to yours.

They never put the 600sci in the 26. Mine was the first.

They felt they needed to do some prop testing.
But instead of building and testing one themselves,
they waited til someone ordered it,
then did their testing. alot of testing.

Worse yet, they did not follow any reasonable break-in procedure, logging 5 hours 23 minutes above 5000rpm in less than 7 hours total run time.

nice eh?

socalstone,

I would not let this go, this would be completely unacceptible.

over 5 hours at WOT, that is worse than a demo boat.

document everything, and keep detailed notes, you got something here.

That sucks! Sh#t would hit the fan bigtime! Good luck and hopefully they will make it worth your while.
It is not like they don;t have access to build their own and try it and then sell it off as used
