Mitch Tholen told me about Bon Ami cleanser, it works great on the rub rail, seats and my stainless mufflers and no harsh chemicals.

MEK or Acetone will soften the vinyl and cause it to yellow and age faster. The maintenance crews in the auto plants use MEK to clean the contacts on multi-conductor cables, we were having all kinds of connector failures due to the degradation of the rubber insert and that wasn't exposed to UV.
