Default Please HELP

Hey guy's im new here and hoping i could get get some help.I have a 2000 donzi 22ft zx it has a 350 merc mag and alpha one outdrive it appers to be stock.Yesterday i was running along at about 35-40 mph and about 3500-4000rpm i had the boat slighty trimed. All of the sudden i heard a grinding sound kinda like when you drop it into gear, but louder and faster then the boat stalled before i could shut it down.I checked everything and it looked good so i attempted to restart it .The motor made about 4 revolutions and then froze. When i tried to start it again it would'nt even make a full revolution. It tries to turn over but its like the motors locked up.Has enyone had this problem before.I dont know much about boats but i know a good bit about car motors.Could the out drive be broke and keeping the motor from turning over?? Or would you say the motor locked up. P.S i was in deep water and didnt hit anything.Any info would be gratly appericated

Ok i went out there took it off and she fired right up.So now that i know its the out drive what should i do.Should i just get it rebuilt or should i step it up.Ive heard of these extreme drives and stuff like that.I plan on building the motor up to about 475hp over winter.Or i might just add a pro charger or something or the sorts. But since its broke now would be the time to up grade. How much power will the stock ones hold, and how much would it cost to get somthing better?

Alpha 1's can handle 400hp, if you're very nice to it.

to get "better" you would need to go to a Bravo,
used you may get lucky and find an entire used setup for
around $4000 and you would need to also add a seapump
to your engine as Bravos dont have one like the Alpha.
New you would probably be looking at $8000 by the time all is said and done.
Luckily I still havent broken my 26 year old Alpha 1 even with a 502.

You could buy a nice used Bravo transom assembly/drive for a few thousand. Then just drill two additional holes for the Bravo setup and your good to go. Sell the Alpha stuff to offset the cost.

Hey Slick, where are you located? I have 4 Bravo 1 set ups sitting on the floor now. Complete with HP transom assy's all they lack is the steering ram. 1 set has zero hours on the uppers. Other set has maybe 100 hrs. All gimbles are in great shape. The $4000. is the number for one complete setup plus shipping unless you can come to Philly and get it.
