Bravo 1 oil change - newbie question
Does someone have a step by step oil change procedure for someone that has never done it before (and really doesn't want to f anything up).
It's for an 01' Baja if it makes a difference.
I do have a pump, but do I refill from the reservoir in the engine compartment instead?
sorry for the dumb question
mb.

Take the cap off the reservior.
Drain it.( take plug out of lower unit)
Take the vent plug out of the upper.
After it's done draining, insert the pump hose
into the drain hose in the lower, start pumping
the oil. ( takes somewhere around 2.5 to 3 qts
to reach the vent hole)
Once it starts flowing out the vent hole in the upper,
install the vent plug.
Continue pumping oil til you see oil starting to
come into the reservior.
Remove pump hose and install drain plug
back in the lower.....all in the same motion
Check the level in the reservior, once it's done
rising, go ahead and fill it as needed.
Install cap on reservior, job complete.

tidbit
After installing the top plug, be careful to watch the topside reservoir after each pump of gear oil. As soon as you see the reservoir filling, stop and wait a few minutes because the oil will continue to fill the reservoir. Then add oil to the full level.
If you pump too long or too fast, the pressure inside the drive can cause the excess oil to overflow the topside reservoir.
