If it's still newer and under warranty or even just a "little bit" out of warranty then why even chance it or fight it, [IMHO] Just keep the oil's and filter's stock, Then go after market if you want to, Becouse how I see it is if you support mercruiser then mercruiser will support you in time of need in most cases. I have seen them help a lot of people out when they did not need to, It's who you ask and how you ask them that makes the differents. "Just my 02 worth"

Prolly really personal prefrence I had bravo 1 fail 2 yrs ago had to replace upper gear set. I switched to Royal Purple from advice on the forums here on offshore only. I have noticed less sludge in the bottom of the resivor bottle when I change fluid in outdrive also no metal shavings on the magnets of the vent and drain plugs.( Not telling anyone to switch to Royal Purple jus giving insight on what I have noticed since I switched)

there are some other gear oils that might be a little better than the merc stuff but if you get a little water in the drive oil its hard to beat the merc stuff. water kills the other guys most of the time.
