If it's a high-strength application, I'll drill the hole out to 1.25X-1.50X the diameter of the screw and fill the hole with an appropriate length of dowel rod. Wet the hole and the dowel with a good high shear adhesive and insert. Once set, sand flush, drill and re-install the screw.

For non-critical locations, I'll just jam the hole full of tooth picks and re-install the screw with some non-permanent adhesive or thread locker.

If you can get to the back use oval head machine screws and put a fender washer and nylock nuts to tighten it down.

ive always taken zip ties and run them in with the screw and then cut them flush, works everytime

your using the wrong technique when installing the screws into the fiberglass,the sheet metal stainless screws make their own threads,,you have to reinstall them like your putting a nut and a bolt together,if you off by one thread they will strip..my method is to start the screw by turning it backwards first until you feel the screw drop into the hole then screw it into the tightening position,this way they wont strip..
